A Moncton house got hit by lightning in that storm on Saturday afternoon! Moncton Fire Department responded to the call on Arlington Street midafternoon. One neighbor said when she heard it happen she thought her house blew up! She told the CBC "A house down the street got hit, great big hole in the side of their house."

The Moncton Fire Department's Andrew Petrie, who died of cancer 13 months ago,  will be the seventh name added to Moncton's firefighters monument in Victoria Park during a public 9/11 ceremony this evening. Monday's ceremony will start with a short parade by Petrie's former colleagues from the former CFB Moncton, down Park Street - to the memorial in Victoria Park.

There are some street closures for the 9/11 Memorial Parade in Moncton tonight...Park Street, from Cameron Street to Weldon Street will be closed to thru traffic from 5:15 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. The service in Victoria Park begins at 6pm.

A cruise ship has been fined from breaking the new 10 knot speed limit in the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Transport Canada said they issued the $6,000 fine to the Seven Seas Navigator on Friday. The speed limit was put in place by the federal government in August to prevent further deaths of the endangered right whale species.

A Canadian damage assessment team is heading to the Caribbean to determine what kind of help is needed as the region picks up the pieces after being battered by hurricane Irma. Global Affairs says nearly 300 Canadians on a number of Caribbean islands have officially asked for help. Irma is now a category one storm and will move into Georgia today.

The Moncton Fisher Cats & Chatham Ironmen finally got a couple of ball games in on the weekend...Chatham won Friday night in Miramichi...Moncton won last night at Kiwanis Park...the series is tied 1-1. Game three goes tonight at Ironmen Field in Miramichi.
